My name is Liv and I was born in Sweden, now I live in Byron. I have made this a big embroidery that says "I am, you are, beautiful, worthy, beloved, enough" and it has various red dots. It's hand embroidered on pink tulle that is a bit transparent, it's probably a meter two meters long in a meter wide and I think of the red thread is something that connects me to a long line of female makers.
It's quite a slow process to hand embroider things, but I really enjoy the meditative practice that it is and I was thinking about this when I made it as a self-love is really the most revolutionary act so to feel that you are enough, that you are worthy and you are beautiful. It is something that counteracts our daily culture and what things are sold to us and we are constantly told that we're not enough so um it's a big love letter to you really.
So what you can see is a pink dress it's uh vintage I think from the 50s maybe the 40s this kind of prom dress and I have hand embroidered it with red thread and it says "this is a non-conforming area" and has three big arrows pointing upwards from the hem. My thought about this is that the body is indeed a battlefield but I wanted to make a statement about that and they don't have to conform you decide and your body is your own and doesn't belong to anyone else.
